PSA: Check Your KIDEE Fire Extinguishers

People urged to check KIDDE fire extinguishers

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently announced recall #18-022 for KIDDE portable fire extinguishers manufactured between Jan. 1, 1973 and Aug. 15, 2017. In response and support of this recall, the Town of Wake Forest is urging area residents and businesses that own a KIDDE brand fire extinguisher to review the following:

  1. Review the CPSC recall information at www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2017/kidde-recalls-fire-extinguishers-with-plastic-handles-due-to-failure-to-discharge-and
  2. Review additional information from KIDDE at https://inmarmarketaction.com/kidde/

Anyone who does not have Internet-access may call Kidde toll-free at 855-271-0773 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET Saturday and Sunday.

Given the nature of these fire safety devices, the Town of Wake Forest is advising all area residents and businesses that own a KIDDE brand fire extinguisher to act as soon as possible to ensure their in-service fire safety equipment performs as expected.
