The Layered Hybrid

In Spring 2018, we will offer a new course format for Distance Learning Students.

  • This format gives you an opportunity to come to campus and experience face-to-face interaction with faculty and fellow students.
  • It allows you to join us in our weekly chapel services.
  • It helps you complete more credits per semester.  (OR “finish more credits per semester.”)

The new format is called the LAYERED HYBRID.

Each layered hybrid course last 6.5 weeks and combines 6 weeks of online coursework and 2.5 days of intensive in-class instruction. Course 1 begins online and concludes in class, while course 2 begins in-class and concludes online.… Read More...

Bayleaf Baptist Church Toy Chest | Nov 11

For the 23rd year in a row, Bay Leaf Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina, helped Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary students bring Christmas presents home to their families. On Nov. 12, 2016 Bay Leaf volunteers greeted students with cheers and applause as they eagerly entered the gymnasium to find presents for their children among tables stacked high with toys.

Meet Executive Chef Virginia Spencer

Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary is welcoming its newest staff member to the team, Executive Chef Virginia Spencer. Spencer, who has been in the culinary profession for more than 16 years, will oversee Magnolia Kitchen, a newly renovated dining hall for students, faculty and staff in the Ledford Center. Learn more about her story and what she is looking forward to about her new role at Southeastern.

Tami Fitzgerald – Battleground NC: Marriage, Life and Religious Liberty in the Tar Heel State

Tami Fitzgerald, the executive director for NC Values Coalition, spoke at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS) doctoral studies luncheon on Feb. 20.

Fitzgerald was the chairwoman of Vote FOR Marriage NC, the official referendum committee that passed the North Carolina Marriage Amendment and a lobbyist in the General Assembly on pro-family and business issues. She is an attorney licensed in North Carolina, Arizona and Oklahoma for over 22 years

Fitzgerald’s lecture titled “Battleground NC: Marriage, Life and Religious Liberty in the Tar Heel State” focused on the legal status in North Carolina on the topics of marriage, life and religious liberty.… Read More...

Don Dancer Speaks on “Reflections on Institutional Governance”

IMG_0722Don Dancer spoke on “Reflections on Institutional Governance” at a Center for Faith and Culture Ph.D. luncheon on Dec. 4.

Dancer is a retired corporate attorney and currently teaches at Elon University School of Law in Greensboro, North Carolina.

He spoke on the importance of accountability and transparency in business and in the Church. He explored several ways to prepare for and improve best practices. Dancer encouraged organizations to anticipate challenges in governance and be prepared if difficulties arise.

Dancer believes transparency in pastoral staff is supposed to be beyond reproach is crucial to recognize and to diversify power and oversight.… Read More...

Bayleaf Toy Chest Ministry

The Annual Toy Chest Ministry at Bay Leaf Baptist Church coming up on Saturday, November 15th. This event is open to Southeastern students with children, and who are registered for at least 6 credit hours of classes. Brand new toys are on sale at 10% of the retail cost. Arrive by 8:30am to enter the raffle. Doors open at 9:00am. All money you spend at the Toy Chest goes to support the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.

With papers due right around the corner, the Library will be re-running their Research 101 & 102 workshops for two weeks beginning November 3rd. Learn how to save time while researching, as well as what databases the library offers and how to search the efficiently. You can also set up a research appointment on the library web page for one on one help.
