Dever opens 9Marks at Southeastern

Mark Dever, pastor of Capitol Hill Baptist Church and president of 9Marks, opened the 9Marks at Southeastern by preaching on the message of the entire Bible: in the Old Testament God makes promises, and in the New Testament he keeps them, through Christ.

“Christ is the promise of the entire Bible. He is the promised redeemer,” Dever said.

Dever walked through the Scriptures, showing how the Old Testament provides the context for Christ and the New Testament points to him as the fulfillment of everything God has said and promised to his covenant people.

Dever ended his session where the Scripture ends: with the promise of God dwelling with his people forever.

“We have a faithful word of God revealed to us,” he said. “We should believe it, we should trust it.”
